Conservation Based IGA

Project coordinator and representatives of community based organization handed over the financial support to the poor and model farmer to adopt project concept. Altogether eight farmers were chosen as model farmer. Programme was organized in chairmanship Bufferzone Saving and Cooperative, Piple Chitwan.


Stakeholder Meeting May 2009

Rufford Small Grant for Nature Conservation and Nagao Natural Environment Foundation funded rhino conservation project has organized stakeholder meeting on May 13, 2009. Chairman of Chitwan National Park Bufferzone Community Forest User Group and Bufferzone Saving and Credit Cooperative have placed their conservation voices. PARC team leader and project coordinators highlighted the project concept and objectives. The meeting was held in the building of Chitwan National Park Bufferzone Community Forest User Group and Bufferzone Saving and Credit Cooperative office.


Women Group at Elephant Breeding Center

PARC supported locally intiated conservation tour in order to educate women about the importance of wildlife conservation and tourism.


Conservation Education; May 2009

To provide conservation information and importance, Women were taken to Biodiversity Conservation Center/NTNC. Conservation Education officer and Tourism Officer have taken conservation class and detailed out their efforts on nature conservation.


Bishajari Lake Visit; May 10, 009

PARC supported Janahari Jana Chetana Bufferzone Community Forest User Group on their observation tour. Tour was organized by foucsing women of that community forest.  PARC's Team Leader Suman Bhattarai explored importance of wetlands and their ecological importance during the Bishajari Lake visit.

In the initiation of Jayahari Jana Chetana Bufferzone Community Forest User Group, PARC organized an OBSERVATION TOUR in order to create awareness about biodiversity conservation amongst women groups. Tour has focused women groups of Jayahari Jana Chetana Bufferzone Community Forest User Group. Women of all households participate in the tour. Altogether there were 111 participants. Biodiversity Conservation Center, Partnership For Rhino Conservation, Rufford Small Grant for Nature Conservation, Nagao Natural Environment Foundation, Chitwan National Park Lothar Bufferzone User Committee, Bufferzone Saving and Credit Cooperative and Jayahari Jana Chetana Bufferzone Community Forest User Group were the stakeholders of this tour.

PARC has established a sample fish pond in vegetable garden of a farmer. 


Field Visit: March 2009

To run the rhino conservation project effectively, we visit field frequently. In our last visit, We found that many children are fishing in the river with local wepons (taro) and poison. If children did not get chance to go school, sustainable conservation cannot be expected. We therefore felt campaign for children schooling is utmost need at project site.


Interaction February 12, 2009

Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF), Japan funded rhino conservation project in Rai Village has been strated with an interaction programme. Bufferzone Saving and Creadit Cooperative, Piple has taken the responsibility to conduct income generation activities as local partner. Similarly, Chitwan National Park Lother User Committee, Youth Clubs, School and Teacher are showing their interest to work jointly.


 

Coordination Programme; Feb 2009

PARC coordinates with other projects and organizations to organize the conservation activities effectively. It provides support and helps other projects in their conservation oriented activities. We help all the types of conservation, like; environment, biodiversity and landscape ecology.

Currently, PARC has helped Wetland Bird Conservation Project (Rufford Small Grant for Nature Conservation) in selecting schools and conducting School Teaching Programme. PARC team leader took some class and deliberate conservation importance of wetland birds. He has also explored the some conservation threats (existing and possible) and their minimization ideas. In total, PARC has helped in three schools of Chitwan National Park’s Bufferzone.
