Livelihood Programme for Rhino Conservation

PARC has been implementing conservation income generation activities in order to reduce the local pressure in rhino habitat. PARC has supported eight farmers to adopt conservation based integrated income generation activities (IGAs) as demonstration. PARC encouraged them to keep fishery, pig, bee, duck and garden activities. PARC has provided financial assistance on the refundable basis. Farmers have to return assistance within one years and that assistance will be provided to next poor farmer for one year in refundable contract. Activities are conducted in Chitwan National Park Lother Bufferzone.

Radio Program

We are launching radio program entitled “Samrakshan Aviyan” in Nepali whose English meaning is “Conservation Campaign” through VIJAYA  COMMUNITY F.M. 101.6 Mz, Every Friday at 19:00 to 19:15. Apsara Silwal is the presenter and Suman Bhattarai is arranger.   Program is a joint effort of PARC/Chitwan, BIOCOS/Lalitpur, TBCS/Nawalparasi and Vijaya F. M.  Rufford Small Grant For Nature Conservation, UK is funding partner.

Booklet Publication

PARC is going to publish booklet, a teaching material, for school teaching programme. We hope that this booklet will be fruitful to those individual who are interested to take detail information about rhinoceros and conservation issue in Nepal. The draft preparation had been finished and we are seeking fund for its printing.

Conservation Board Establishment

PARC’s team use to visit field frequently to find out sensitive or pocket area. We try to place conservation board to discourage the poacher and threats creature groups.

Education Material Distribution

This is also PARC’s regular activities. We will support poor children if we find these students at our field visit. We collect data of poor children in school and household visit programme and search funding agencies to support them.

School Teaching

PARC conducts school teaching activities on wildlife conservation in every month. We use to select and request school for class and somewhere we will visit school in the request of school and clubs. Most of our members are inhabitant of buffer-zone of concerned National Parks which makes us to move in communities.
